D-Bag workshop
This workshop is truly one of a kind. Under the guidance of leathercraft artist Maria Nesterenko, creator of IGLÀ, you will craft the D-bag using the materials provided and your own hands. You’ll gain a unique experience in how the bag is constructed and sewn together, learn a new skill, and design your own original handmade bag.
Step by step D-bag is a unique workshop where you can saddle stitch your own leather bag, complete with a smart strap and a customized design. You’ll create everything from scratch, learning the traditional saddle stitching technique and leather crafting skills. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a beautiful, self-made bag crafted entirely by YOU.
We use premium quality Italian leather in the IGLÀ studio. For this workshop, you will be provided with the same high-quality matte black leather to create your bag.
A highlight of the workshop is learning the saddle stitching technique—a traditional Italian method of leather craftsmanship. When done well, saddle-stitched seams can last a lifetime and are easily repairable. To create the D-bag, it is sewn by hand using two needles, strong thread, and the skill of saddle stitching. You will gain valuable experience in this technique and acquire a new skill to treasure.
After sewing your bag together, you can design its final look. You have the option to add your name, initials, or other personal touches to the leather. You can also choose between silver or gold studs or add fringed leather details.
What do I need to come join? You don’t need any previous experience in sewing or leatherwork. Just come as you are—everything you need will be provided on the spot. Get into the flow, enjoy the process, and be amazed at how creative and talented you are as you learn and bring your original design to life with your own hands.
